Webinar by Richard Robin, Professor of Russian and International Affairs, Director of Russian Language program at The George Washington University
For first and second year students of Russian, interesting authentic video content — junky serials, news events, game shows, vblogs — are usually far beyond I+1, "just a bit beyond the comprehension comfort zone "; it's more like I+25! But what's more interesting, an interview with some unknown, especially recorded for a Russian textbook, or the Season opener for Адаптация, the Russian spoof of The Americans, or an episode of Who Wants to Be a Millionnaire? Most of what Russians see at home is on YouTube. Most is too hard for "raw" use. But in this webinar, you'll learn how to target caption for any possible student audience, as the examples below show.
Gloss one word...
Dual-language
Or... no translation of this line... or just the target language:
Or whatever else you want!Once you create the first set, it's easy to modify the level of caption support. I'll show you how to do targeted subtitling. Build a caption library!
All registered participants will receive a link to the recording of the webinar. Certificate of participation will be emailed upon request.
