PSRSLA Guidelines

  • Nomination period:  January 1st – March 1. No late nominations accepted.
    Award certificates are mailed to nominators by April 1.
  • Nominees should be juniors or seniors. Only one student can be nominated from each institution. Community colleges can nominate one second-year student.

    Nomination letters should include the following information about each nominee and nominator:
About the nominee

A. Full name of student as it should appear on the Gramota (the award certificate).
B.
Description of why this student most deserves this award; i.e., how the student is committed to the study of the Russian language and area studies, and engagement with the campus community.

The student does not need to have the top GPA in the department or program, nor do they need to be a Russian major, but should demonstrate active dedication--through coursework, outside activities, and attitude--to the study of Russian language and culture.

About the nominator(s):

C. Name, institution, e-mail address, and complete mailing address of the nominator. At least one nominator must be a current ACTR member (
become a member or renew your membership now).

Since the nomination should reflect the consensus of the program or department, the letter should be submitted by the department chair, director of undergraduate studies, or language program director.
